The EXOCOAT products are raw materials for functional and smart coatings. They may be formulated with additives, resin, pigment and solvent, obtaining coatings with smart functionalities such as easy to clean, anti-fog, anti-fingerprint and superhydrophobicity.

Protective Coatings

Maintenance of infrastructure, industrial buildings and other structures is taking a big chunk from company and government budgets.  Smart coatings can limit these expenses. Our new nano based raw materials for easy to clean coatings once formulated, repel water as well as dirt by forming a non-stick top layer. Our polymer resin for example cures into a strong hybrid inorganic/organic hydrophobic layer which withstands strong abrasive and chemical wear.

For protective coating primers, key is the ability to form a robust barrier to corrosion. One of the best barriers is a conversion coating.  These coatings chemically convert the top layer of the metal into an inert barrier. A revolutionary way to achieve this is by applying sol-gel chemistry. A nano layer of the metal surface is converted to inert oxides like SiO2, ZrO2 or Al2O3, which are resistant to heat, acids and chlorine attack and thus especially resistant to corrosion.

Automotive Coatings

EXOCOAT products provide easy to clean solutions for automotive coatings and polishes. Our products may be formulated into systems to reduce the tarnishing of rims, reduce dirt take-up of the bodywork. They can be used on existing new coatings or improve the aesthetics of old coatings (refurbishment).

For trains and buses, we provide durable anti-graffiti resins for both interior and exterior applications.

Our products may be used on the inside of automotive windscreens or on mirrors to create fog protection.

Coil Coatings

A key challenge for coil coated plates is to keep them free from corrosion. Conversion coatings can be applied. As for Protective Coatings a successful way to achieve this is by applying our sol-gel chemistry. With sol-gel coatings, a nano layer of the metal surface is converted to inert oxides like SiO2, ZrO2 or Al2O, which are resistant to heat, acids and chlorine attack.

Axcentive also provide easy to clean functionality for coil coatings that keep their performance for several years. Our technology is compatible to flash cure conditions usually seen with coil coatings.

In a clear coat application, this very hydrophobic resin system also protects bare aluminium from corrosion giving a fabulous glossy appearance.

Formulations based on our unique resins, allows refurbishment of old coatings without extensive repainting, including surface preparation. Simply clean the old surface and apply the formulated coating directly. Not only regains the coating a new life, it will also provide a durable easy to clean finish.

Glass protection

We have developed systems to form invisible layers onto glass to protect, maintain and improve the appearance of the surface using self-cleaning, water, dirt & stain repelling sol-gel-technology.

Glass for buildings is highly susceptible to all kind of weathering effects and inevitably will become dirty, dusty and soiled. The application of self-cleaning technologies onto the glass cannot only delay this process, choosing the right sol-gel-technology may drastically reduce the sanitation budget as self-cleaning glass reduces the need for frequent cleaning.

Improving the visibility in rainy circumstances can be achieved with hydrophobic modification of the surface. water-repellent technologies have been developed to make extremely hydrophobic glass, increasing driver safety.

Moreover, the same technology is used for camera’s and radars for autonomous cars in order to maintain the high-level functions in all weather conditions.

Calcareous sediments are strongly reduced on (bathroom) glass treated with the hydrophobic modification.
